2024 Accomplishments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Here&#8217;s a summary of what we accomplished in July on our various projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bridge\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Completed all structural work\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Installed remaining blocking on west side<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installed remaining spacers on main span<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installed diagonal bracing under joists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shuffled lumber piles on the west side to prepare for finishing the bridge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evicted bald-faced hornets from east approach and trimmed back brush to make less hospitable in future<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installed corduroy for western bridge approach<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installed decking for east half of bridge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Began removing excess tools and materials from job site&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Moved corduroy logs from CW-1 to bridge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forestry\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>James trained for log handling with Toolcat and excavator<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sorted and stacked remaining logs on the ground in NW corner of CW-1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hayfields\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Got all of our hay cut, raked, baled, brought in, stacked, and tarped (despite a seemingly endless series of challenges)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sold one ton of hay, decided to keep the rest for our horses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mowed coastal tarweed in South Field to keep it from seeding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pastures\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Draven trained for using the mower with the Toolcat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mowed almost all of the paddocks for weed control<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tansy ragwort patrolled<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Horses transitioned to 24\/7 grazing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Silvopasture\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Found all but one row of oak seedlings that we planted last fall (did not try to locate oaks planted along fence lines)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staked all of the oak seedings we found in the North and South Fields<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provided micro-shelters of hay to the seedlings in the North and South Fields<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Received final sign-off from NRCS for brush abatement in the West Fields<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Garden\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Began harvesting zucchini&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tomatoes trained and producing green fruit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drip irrigation system working well<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Horses\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Changed to a later evening feeding (horses come in more readily)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nemo\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Acquired and integrated him into the herd<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food aggression training is going well<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did some refresher training for saddle with Kim<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elf: Got him through severe hoof cracking on one of his fronts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shasta: Appetite improved<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Herc: Weight stable, feet healthy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Simon: Small improvements in skittishness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a summary of what we accomplished in July
