It all grew right here, so it hasn&#8217;t been hauled anywhere. The actual volume is written on the pallet, so you get what you pay for.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In Oregon, the only legal unit of measure for  firewood sales is the cord (or fractions of a cord), which is 128 cubic feet of firewood, neatly stacked. We write the volume of each unit of firewood we sell right on the pallet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All firewood buyers should read the brochure, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ODA\/shared\/Documents\/Publications\/InternalServices\/AvoidGettingBurnedFirewoodbrochure.pdf\">&#8220;Avoid Getting Burned When Buying Firewood&#8221;, published by the Oregon Department of Agriculture.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much can I haul in my pickup?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, that depends on your  pickup and on how you load it. For reference, a standard full-size pickup bed loaded to the top of the rails (8&#8242; long x 5.33&#8242; wide x 1.5&#8242;  deep) will hold about 63 cubic feet, which is just under 1\/2 cord\u2014<strong>if<\/strong> the  firewood is neatly stacked in the bed. The bigger issue is weight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We offer the following suggestions for loads of firewood:<br> \u2022 compact pickup: 1\/3 cord<br> \u2022 1\/2-ton full-size pickup (F150, Ram 1500, Chevy 1500): 1\/2 cord<br> \u2022 3\/4-ton full-size pickup (F250, Ram 2500, Chevy 2500): 2\/3 cord<br> \u2022 1-ton full-size pickup (F250, Ram 2500, Chevy 2500): 1 cord<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Overloading your vehicle can result in damage to your vehicle, as well as loss of steering, tire failure, brake failure, or lateral instability, any of which can cause a crash. Always check your vehicle owner&#8217;s manual to determine the safe carrying capacity.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don&#8217;t Move Firewood\u2014Buy It Where You Burn It!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Help prevent the  spread of tree-killing insects and diseases by not transporting firewood  more than a few miles from where it was cut.
